What is Aseptic Food Processing?
Discover how aseptic packing, packaging and filling make a difference in food quality and safety.
Aseptic packing is the process of filling specialized packaging within a contained environment. Filling packaging aseptically reduces the total acceptable microrganism load to almost nothing making it an attractive option for a range of applications.
The benefits of aseptic packing are many. Products that are filled aseptically, for example, do not need to be frozen and can be shipped dry (at ambient temperatures and without refrigeration or freezing). While many aseptic products should be refrigerated in order to maintain product color and flavor, juice concentrates and vegetable purees in aseptic packing can be stored without concern for microrganism growth. As a result, aseptically packed goods offer a significant financial savings opportunity thanks to the reduced freight and energy costs that result.
Greenwood Aseptics carries aseptic products in drums and in a 5-gallon bag-in-box (this, as the name suggests, is an aseptically filled bag, that is then placed in a cardboard box). Get in touch with Greenwood Aseptics and learn more about our process and the products we provide.
